Germans are crazy for asparagus. As soon as it’s available to lift from local grounds in spring for just a short time, they raven it by the kilo. Usually it is drowned in butter or sauce hollandaise and eaten with potatoes and maybe ham or gammon. I like it that traditional way too, however, I prefer asparagus in combination with strawberries, rocket and roasted pine nuts in a slightly sweet vinaigrette with basil. It tastes just like summer and is probably even better for the bikini body I don’t have anyway. Yummy!
